Eco-friendly furniture launched at GHB09

June 2009 saw the launch of the new Jigsawzbitz range of eco-friendly cardboard furniture at the Greener Homes & Buildings Exhibition, held in Builth Wells, Powys. The exhibition is dedicated to home building products, concepts and services that are geared towards reducing our dependency on expensive fossil fuels, whilst helping to lessen the impact on our environment.

The Jigsawzbitz range of furniture is manufactured from 100% recycled paper waste and the furniture itself is fully recyclable. The paper waste is reprocessed into a strong but lightweight honeycomb cardboard, made fire-retardant using an eco-friendly process, and if required can be customised by the user with water based paints, screen printing or even wallpapering.

A range of standard pieces is available for both home and office use, including chairs, tables and shelving units. These items are delivered flat-packed and can all be assembled in minutes without the use of glues or metal fixings. Bespoke pieces can also be produced, including reception units, dining tables and desks. Heavy duty surfaces can be added also made from recycled materials – the range even includes a desk drawer unit made from 100% recycled yoghurt pots!

Jigsawzbitz Marketing Director Jayney Turner said “The Greener Homes & Buildings show proved an ideal launch pad for the Jigsawzbitz eco-friendly furniture range. We took over 100 serious enquiries over the three days, from private individuals wanting occasional furniture for their homes to large organisations interested in kitting out their reception and conference areas to provide a highly visible statement of their green credentials”

The company is currently working on new designs for standard pieces, and also collaborating with other organisations to produce bespoke eco-friendly furniture solutions.
